Four Deserts Runners are competing in the 4 Deserts, which finish with
the Last Desert in Antarctica November 17-24 2010:
Lisa Tamati is New Zealand's
top female athlete.
Samantha Gash, from Australia, is studying for her law degree and plans to be the
first female and the youngest person to complete the 'grand slam' of all 4 Deserts in a
year.
Dave O'Brien, from Ireland, will be the oldest ever to complete the 4 Deserts 'grand
slam'.
Each of these 4 Deserts Ultras requires the competitors to run 155 miles in 7 days over
extreme terrain, while carrying all their own gear and food.
