The Power of Five: Farming

#2 The Law of the Farm

Listen to David

We’ve all been busy. Busy beyond belief. All the busy-ness culminated today with the close of another phenomenal month. Not just the PVC numbers at the bottom of your reports, but the realization of seeing that what we have been doing for 3,4,5 or 6 months, a year, is showing up in spades today.  That’s the Law of the Farm. It’s a basic principle in our business. What you do today, what you do this week… really doesn’t show up for 90 days, 6 months or longer. That takes vision. It takes faith in what you’re about.

Although we’re excited, we should not be surprised to see this kind of growth in our businesses. This is the way it works.  You plant, you water, you work the soil that’s fertile…should I say …teachable, willing to work, faithful and available. We continue gifting and educating and pouring our lives into people.

The Law of the Farm says:

  • Do not look for the big deals.
  • There are no short cuts.
  • Stick with the basics.
  • Stay focused.
  • Be consistent.
  • Teach the System
  • Grow the business one customer at a time.
  • Build wide.

It’s the foundation for my future.

I spoke with two-dozen people today who were astonished. Every person essentially said, “I would not have believed a year ago that my business would be where it is today.” So, I’ll say to you what I said to each of them. Take a short break. Celebrate your success. And, begin again, this time around with greater skills, more consistent habits and a deeper commitment to the people on your team.
